Chapel of Our Lady of Slain, Portugal
The chapel was built in 1602 to replace the original dating back to very ancient times. It is closely linked to the legend of Abbot John of Lorvao. It is octagonal shaped and the interior has beautiful paintings representing abbot John.
Prayer - by Saint Ignatius of Loyola
O Christ Jesus, when all is darkness and we feel our weakness and helplessness, give us the sense of Your presence, Your love, and Your strength. Help us to have perfect trust in Your protecting love and strengthening power, so that nothing may frighten or worry us, for, living close to You, we shall see Your hand, Your purpose, Your will through all things.

Lavender is called Mary's Drying Plant. After Mary laid Jesus' clothes on the lavender plant to dry it received it's scent. Lavender is the National Flower of Portugal, it is a wild flower and there are many in Ireland as well, especially at the Mary Garden in Knock.
