Although no canonical text directly evokes the crowning of the Virgin Mary in Heaven, the Church has always recognized in the "clothed with the sun and crowned with stars" from the Revelation of John 12:1, the Holy Mother herself.
Mary's crowning in Heaven has been particularly celebrated by the Church for centuries in the meditation of the fifth glorious mystery of the Holy Rosary. Thus, the tradition of the Church affirms that after her Assumption to Heaven, the Virgin Mary was welcomed with majestic happiness by the Holy Trinity as the Queen of Heaven and Earth, as well as by all the creatures of the celestial court assembled for her royal crowning. *** Hail Holy Queen (Salve Regina)
Hail, holy Queen, Mother of mercy, Our life, our sweetness and our hope. To thee do we cry,Poor banished children of Eve,To thee do we send up our sighs, Mourning and weepingIn this valley of tears. Turn then, most gracious Advocate, Thine eyes of mercy toward us, And after this our exile, Show unto us the blessed fruitOf thy womb, Jesus.O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary! Pray for us, O Holy Mother of God, That we may be made worthy Of the promises of Christ. Amen.
