Our Lady of Loreto

Child Mary with St. Ann and St. Joachim in the Holy House
Our Lady of Loreto
According to tradition, a band of angels picked up the holy house where Mary was born and brought it to Loreto, Italy. In 1522, the slave of a Turkish pasha was convinced to pray to Mary by one of his slaves. After being cured, the pasha freed the slave and sent numerous presents to the Church of Our Lady of Loreto.

Prayer to Our Lady
Pope Benedict XVI
Yes, we want to think you, Virgin Mother of God and our most beloved Mother, for your intercession for the good of the Church. You, who in embracing the divine will without reserve were consecrated with all of your energies to the person and work of your Son, teach us to keep in our hearts the mysteries of Christ's life and to meditate upon them in silence, as you did. May you who reached Calvary, ever-deeply united to your Son who from the Cross gave you as mother to the disciple John, also make us feel you are always near, at each moment of our lives, especially in the times of darkness and trial. Excerpt from a Prayer of His Holiness Benedict XVI --December 8, 2005
Ave Maria!
